Nestled in King Harbor, our hotel boasts front-row views of a vibrant colony of California sea lions in their natural habitat. Upon arrival in your guestroom, discover a special stuffed sea lion with an adoption certificate available for a nominal fee. This donation supports our partners at the Marine Mammal Care Center, a nonprofit hospital dedicated to marine animals.

Hotel History
The Portofino Inn, as it was originally named, was opened in 1962. Named for the Italian seacoast town of Portofino and admired for its Mediterranean flavor, the inn was a hangout for car racers. The Cannonball, a race from New York to Los Angeles, was first held in 1971 with The Portofino Inn as its final destination.
