At The Portofino Hotel & Marina, the Pacific Ocean is our backyard. We know eco-friendly initiatives are of the utmost importance and that is why we strongly believe in taking the necessary steps to help ensure that our hotel helps preserve and protect the indoor and outdoor environment. Here are the following eco-friendly initiatives our hotel has in place:

• Aluminum bottled water program
• Refillable water stations throughout property
• Bulk amenities in refillable bottles
• Water conservation via our linen change policy
• Recycle containers within guest rooms
• Coffee station supplied with wooden sticks, no straws
• Moving toward mugs for coffee station (*removing disposable paper cups)
• Monthly team “Trash Bash Events,” focusing on removing plastic from the South Bay beach area to keep animals and water safe
• Use of dimmers, motion detectors, low voltage devices, and fluorescent bulbs to reduce total energy consumption
• Eliminated plastic straws and replaced with paper (*pasta straws available upon request)
• Cardboard is bailed and recycled daily
• Landscaping sprinklers are controlled by moisture sensors so that the landscaping receives water only when needed
• Exterior landscaping lighting are controlled by timers and/or photocells to ensure evening usage only
• Use of energy-efficient heating, cooling, laundry, and kitchen equipment
• Green Programs for meetings and events
