Your waterfront adventure awaits! The Portofino is the perfect South Bay destination for all ocean activities and sports. Our new Dockside Adventure Center offers kayaks, stand up paddleboards, scuba, deep sea fishing and boat charters as well as bike rentals, beer tastings, cocktail-making classes and even paint and sip events.
The Dockside Adventure Center in partnership with REI also offers a variety of specialty tours and classes.

Pacific Coast Kayak Tour
The coast of Southern California is teeming with sea life – from bright orange Garibaldi, pelicans, and even bottlenose dolphins. The sandy shoreline opens up to the Pacific Ocean, with expansive views of the Channel Islands and coastal cliff sides. The best way to witness this amazing ecosystem? From the seat of a kayak floating along this deep and intricate waterscape. This paddle is perfect for anyone. We’ll bring all the necessary gear and go over kayaking basics before getting started. Come see some of Earth’s finest creatures with cheery and adventurous new friends. It’s going to be so much fun!
Beach Cruiser Bikes
The local oceanfront bike path here is flat and runs for over 27 miles up to Malibu! Our Complimentary Beach Cruiser Bicycles are available for up to one hour and are for all guests staying at the hotel, based upon availability. Bicycle rentals are available from 8AM to 5PM each day. Complimentary bike locks, baskets, and helmets are also offered based on availability. Guests will be asked to sign a waiver before checking out a bicycle. Happy trails!

Surfing & Scuba
Break out of your usual evening routine and join our instructors for a sunset tour at one of our favorite kayaking destinations! After some basic instruction, we’ll take a short paddle tour of the area and find a nice spot to watch the sunset from out on the water. This is a great way to get some extra paddling practice and meet new friends. We provide kayaks, all the gear, and basic paddle instruction, but please bring your own headlamp. Pre-Requisite: Learn to Kayak Class or equivalent skills; ages 14 and up are welcome.
